April is the Month of the Young Child

The Month of the Young Child (MOYC) is an annual celebration that CCAEYC, along with hundreds of NAEYC affiliates and other early childhood organizations around the country will recognize. The purpose of the celebration is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

NAEYC first established the Month of the Young Child in 1971, recognizing that the early childhood years (birth through age 8 ) lay the foundation for children’s success in school and later life. The MOYC is a time to plan how we, as citizens of a community, will better meet the needs of all young children and their families.

This year’s theme, “Bring Communities Together for Children – Children Bring Communities Together”, highlights the importance of a strong, unified voice on behalf of young children and the importance of high-quality early learning experiences.

CCAEYC invites you to hold activities within your own communities to bring awareness to the needs of young children. Bring your communities together by planning an art show, forming a parade, or by having a breakfast with family/friends/neighbors.

Together we can make a difference!
