Business Invitation:

Dear Chautauqua County Business Owner/Manager;
The Month of the Young Child is an annual celebration each April. It is sponsored, primarily by NAEYC (the National Association for the Education of Young Children) as well as the local communities in which programs exist for the quality care and early education of young children. The purpose of the MOYC is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families, and to support the early Childhood programs, services, and communities that work to meet those needs.
We propose to highlight Chautauqua as a county that does just that—support its youngest citizens in a way that is exemplary to the rest of the county. We would like to invite you to join your fellow businesses in celebrating Chautauqua County’s youngest citizens through a decorating contest to be held in April. Businesses may choose to decorate a window, bulletin board, or other designated area. The County logo is being provided to you as an insert in this newsletter. You may reproduce it in any size, paint it on your windows, add your own personal message— Be Creative!!!
This year, CCAEYC has partnered with the Chautauqua Star newspaper to bring a closer focus on the Month of the Young Child and the local businesses that support this endeavor. Businesses may upload a photo of their MOYC display to the Chautauqua Star website, or a photo will be taken by the committee and uploaded for you- whichever you prefer. This provides your business with valuable free publicity—as well as showing Chautauqua County that you are a business that cares about the youngest members of our society!!
Registered businesses will receive a certificate of participation, as well as being highlighted in a press release at the end of April. (Great free publicity) Participants will be entered into a random drawing for one of two $25.00 Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce gift certificates that may be used at many Chautauqua County locations. We are proud of our area children, and the many programs and services that our County has to offer them. We are grateful for your support in this celebration and what it means to Chautauqua County.
Thank You,

County MOYC Events Sponsored by CCAEYC and local Child Care Providers

Lake Shore Family Center Events
Lake Shore Family Center will be celebrating the MOYC with a sense of environmental awareness this year. “Live Green…Because There’s No Place Like Home…” is the recurring theme that can be found in all of the events planned for the month of April.

Silver Creek mayor, Kurt Lindstrom, will kick start events on April 2nd, by proclaiming the MOYC in a ceremony that will include daycare children, parents, local merchants, clergy, and TLC administration. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.

The center will host a “Do it Yourself Depot” on Saturday, April 14th from 10-noon. Children will complete “make it and take it” projects with an environmental focus such as recycled paper, planting seedlings, and creating seed starters from old newspapers. The activity is free and open to the public.

Parent Appreciation Week will be from April 16-20th. Families will be treated at drop-off and pick up to a variety of tasty treats and small gifts. Several drawings will be held for gift baskets throughout the week as well.
Staff Appreciation Week will offer opportunities to “refresh and renew-body, mind, and spirit.” Staff will be treated all week to spa treatments, (using all chemical free ingredients) Healthy treats, Inspirational gifts, and a free Zumba class!

The Center will conclude its month-long events with a pot-luck supper on the 27th. A short film with an environmental focus will be shown. Hands-on stations will offer the opportunity to create your own environmentally-friendly cleaners, beauty products, compost, and baby wipes.
